Rotherham United Complete Travel Guide – 2026-27 Season

ℹ️ 2026-27 Season Guide: Rotherham United return to Sky Bet League Two for 2026-27 following relegation from League One. This guide has been fully checked for the new season. Always check themillers.co.uk before you travel for the latest ticketing and away allocation details.

🏟 ABOUT THE NEW YORK STADIUM

The New York Stadium is Rotherham United’s proudly modern home, built on the site of the former Guest and Chrimes Foundry in an area of town historically known as “New York” – hence the name.

Opened in July 2012 and designed by S&P Architects, this 12,021-capacity stadium brought The Millers back to Rotherham after five years exiled at Sheffield’s Don Valley Stadium.

Four joined-up stands create a proper enclosed bowl with excellent acoustics and distinctive continental-style floodlights. Local engineering firm AESSEAL holds the naming rights, giving the ground its full name: the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Rotherham United were founded in 1925 from a merger of Rotherham County and Rotherham Town. The Millers spent 101 years at their beloved Millmoor (1907–2008) before a dispute with the ground’s owner forced a difficult temporary relocation.

Their story is one of remarkable resilience and community spirit. The foundry that previously occupied the site once manufactured fire hydrants specifically for New York City – a genuinely fascinating historical footnote.
