Yeovil Town – Your Complete Travel Guide for 2026-27

ℹ️ 2026-27 Season Guide: All information has been researched and verified for the 2026-27 National League season. Always check ytfc.net for the latest ticketing and matchday updates before you travel. Huish Park has been council-owned since 2022 with the club as tenants, so keep an eye out for any ground developments as the club’s buyback option runs through to 2028.

🏟️ ABOUT HUISH PARK

Huish Park has been Yeovil Town’s home since 1990, built on the site of a former army camp in the Houndstone area of the town after the club sold its old Huish ground — famous for its 8-foot pitch slope — to developers. The stadium holds 9,565, with 5,212 of those seats spread across the two side stands, giving it a capacity well above that of most of its National League neighbours.

The Bamfords Main Stand runs along one side of the pitch, covered and all-seated, with executive boxes, dugouts, and a players’ tunnel, plus the ticket office and club shop. Opposite is the Screwfix Community Stand, similar in style, with a press box tucked beneath its roof. At one end sits the covered Thatchers Gold Stand, the home terrace, while the away end — the Radio Cabs Stand, still commonly known by its older name of the Copse Road terrace — is an uncovered terrace behind the opposite goal.

Away fans are housed in the Radio Cabs Stand, with a typical allocation of 1,500. For larger followings, an extra 600 seats can be made available in the neighbouring Screwfix Community Stand, bringing the full allocation to just over 2,000. Being uncovered, it’s worth dressing for the weather whatever time of year you visit — there’s no shelter if the Somerset rain rolls in.

Yeovil Town, nicknamed the Glovers after the town’s glove-making heritage, play in green and white and are famous throughout football for their FA Cup giant-killing history, most notably beating Football League Sunderland 2-1 in 1949. The club spent 16 years in the EFL, reaching the Championship in 2013 via the play-offs, before dropping out in 2019. After relegation to National League South in 2023, they won that division outright the following season and returned to the National League, finishing 16th in 2025-26 under new ownership following a May 2025 takeover by Prabhu Srinivasan’s Inflection Holdings.

Yeovil’s fiercest rivalry is with Dorset neighbours Weymouth, an intense West Country derby that has needed a heavy police presence in the past, while matches against Bath City carry their own long-standing Somerset derby history.

🚗 GETTING TO HUISH PARK

Huish Park is one of the trickier National League grounds to reach without a car; both of Yeovil’s railway stations are several miles out, so a bus or taxi connection is essential either way. By road, the ground is well signposted from the A303 and A3088, with reasonable on-site and surrounding industrial estate parking.

A taxi or bus connection is essential, so build extra time into your journey.

Getting from Yeovil Stations to Huish Park

🚌 Bus — Recommended

Bus 68 links both stations to the town centre bus station, where you can pick up the First service to Abbey Manor Park, close to the ground. From Yeovil Junction, the ‘Hopper’ minibus is also a handy option into town.

🚕 Taxi

A sensible option for evening fixtures or if bus timings don’t work — taxis can be scarce at Yeovil Junction, so it’s worth pre-booking a local firm rather than hoping one turns up.

🚆 Matchday Shuttle Bus

A shuttle bus sometimes runs from the town centre bus station to the ground on Saturday fixtures — check with the club in advance, as it’s not always guaranteed for midweek games.

💡 Top Tip: Ask for a ‘PlusBus’ add-on with your rail ticket to cover local buses in Yeovil for a small extra cost — a handy way of covering the last few miles without messing about with cash or apps.

🚗 BY CAR – A303/A3088, On-Site Parking Available

Huish Park sits on the Houndstone industrial estate on the edge of Yeovil, reached via the A303 and A3088. There’s a stadium car park for a modest fee, plus plenty of street parking around the surrounding estate roads.

If You’re Driving:

  • From the M5 (Junction 25): Take the A358 towards Yeovil, then the A303 towards Andover/London before joining the A3088 towards Yeovil at the Cartgate roundabout, following signs for Houndstone and Lufton Trading Estates.
  • From the A303 (Andover/London direction): Follow signs for Yeovil and the A3088, then Houndstone/Lufton Trading Estates, with the stadium car park signposted off Lufton Way.

Parking Options:

  • Stadium Car Park: Available for a reasonable fee (around £3), directly at the ground.
  • Street Parking: Plenty available around the surrounding industrial estate for those who prefer not to use the stadium car park.

💡 Top Tip: There’s only one access road in and out of the industrial estate, so allow extra time leaving after the final whistle — it can back up quickly for bigger crowds.

🍺 PUBS & DRINKS NEAR HUISH PARK

ℹ️ USEFUL TO KNOW: There are no bar facilities for away fans inside Huish Park itself, and the nearest recommended pubs are a genuine 10-15 minute walk away. Yeovil is generally regarded as away-fan friendly, so it’s worth the short trip.

🍺 Near the Ground

🍺 The Arrow (The Forum, Abbey Manor Park, BA21 3TL)

🍺 Yeovil Town Centre

🍺 The Bell Inn (Preston Road, BA20 2EW)

A large, well-regarded Hungry Horse pub on the fringe of town, family-friendly with a good-value menu and plenty of space. A touch further from the ground than the Arrow, but a reliably good option.

Distance to Stadium: Approx. 15-20 min walk / short drive | Price: ££

🍔 Food Options: There’s a chippy on Bunford Lane near the industrial estate, plus the usual pie, pasty, hot dog and burger kiosks inside the ground itself.

💡 Local Tip: With no bar for away fans inside the ground, plan your pre-match pint at the Arrow or the Bell rather than hoping to find something once you’re through the turnstiles.

🏟️ A Ground Above Its Level: At 9,565, Huish Park is a bigger stadium than most in the National League — a legacy of the club’s 16 years in the EFL, including a season in the Championship.

☔ Dress for the Away End: The uncovered Radio Cabs Stand offers no shelter, so check the forecast and dress accordingly whatever time of year you visit.

🚗 Two Stations, Neither Close: Both of Yeovil’s railway stations are several miles from the ground — build a bus or taxi connection into your plans rather than assuming a walkable station.

🏡️ Council-Owned Ground: Huish Park has been owned by the local council since 2022, with the club leasing it back and holding a buyback option running to 2028.

⚽ MATCHDAY EXPERIENCE

🏟️ Tidy, Well-Established Ground: Huish Park is widely regarded as a smart, well-kept stadium with a pleasant setting among trees — a proper legacy of the club’s EFL years.

🏙️ No Bar for Away Fans: There are no bar facilities inside the ground for visiting supporters, so sort your pre-match drink at the Arrow or the Bell beforehand.

🚦 One Way In, One Way Out: The industrial estate around the ground has just one access road — allow extra time for the drive away after the game.

👊 Genuinely Friendly Crowd: Yeovil have a reputation as a welcoming away day — most reports describe home fans as friendly and helpful with directions.

💺 Big Away Support for Derbies: If Weymouth or Bath City are in town, expect a bigger, louder away following than a typical National League fixture.

💭 FINAL THOUGHTS

Huish Park is one of the more substantial grounds in the National League, a legacy of Yeovil’s years in the EFL and even a season in the Championship. The away end is uncovered and basic, but the ground as a whole is tidy, well-kept and set in a genuinely pleasant, tree-lined corner of Somerset.

Getting there takes a bit more planning than most away days — neither station is close, and you’ll want a bus, taxi or car sorted in advance — but once you’re there, this is a genuinely friendly, welcoming place to watch football, with the Arrow and the Bell both solid options for a pre-match pint.

Add in one of English football’s most famous FA Cup giant-killing stories, a genuinely scenic corner of Somerset to explore, and Yeovil’s own recent rise back up from National League South, and this is a satisfying away day for anyone willing to put in a bit of extra travel planning.

A big ground with a giant-killing history, tucked away in Somerset. ⚽
