⚽ WETHERBY ROAD ⚽

Harrogate Town – Your Complete Travel Guide for 2026-27

ℹ️ 2026-27 Season Guide: All information has been researched and verified for the 2026-27 National League season, following Harrogate’s relegation from League Two at the end of the 2025-26 season. Always check harrogatetownafc.com for the latest ticketing and matchday updates before you travel. The ground’s sponsor name has changed twice in the last two years, so it’s well worth double-checking this closer to your visit.

🏟️ ABOUT WETHERBY ROAD

Wetherby Road, currently known as the Marcy Fitness Stadium after a June 2026 rebrand of its previous sponsor, has been Harrogate Town’s home since 1920. Set on the A661 in the east of town, adjacent to Harrogate District Hospital, it holds 5,000 — around 2,000 of those seated — and offers covered accommodation on all four sides, making it a proper, compact, modern non-league ground.

Away fans are housed in what’s still commonly called the EnviroVent Stand (the ground’s stand names have stuck even as the main sponsor has changed), a covered terrace running roughly two-thirds the length of the pitch with a genuinely low roof that helps voices carry. A small covered seated section of around 150 seats sits adjacent, bringing the total away allocation to around 850. Access is via the South Turnstile off Wetherby Road, and a new away supporters’ bar has opened beneath the Kitching Plant Hire Stand, with a capacity of around 100.

Harrogate Town, formed as Harrogate Hotspurs in 1919, are nicknamed the Sulphurites — a nod to the town’s famous sulphurous spa waters — and play in black and yellow. The club’s greatest moment came in 2020, when they won the National League play-off final 3-1 against Notts County at Wembley to reach the Football League for the first time in their history, having also won the FA Trophy that same season. After six seasons in League Two, Harrogate were relegated back to the National League at the end of 2025-26, losing 2-1 to Barnet on the final day.

Harrogate itself is a genuinely handsome Yorkshire spa town, regularly rated among the best places to live in Britain, with elegant Victorian architecture, expansive parkland, and a reputation for being one of the more pleasant and welcoming away days in the entire football pyramid.
