Crawley Town FC – Your Complete Travel Guide for 2025-26

ℹ️ 2025-26 Season Guide: All information has been researched and verified for the current season. Always check crawleytownfc.com for the latest ticketing, parking and matchday updates before you travel. Crawley Town were relegated from League One at the end of 2024-25 and are back in League Two for 2025-26. An Away Fan Zone is now open next to the away turnstiles, serving food and alcohol before kick-off and at half-time. Broadfield Stadium no longer produces a matchday programme.

⚽ ABOUT THE BROADFIELD STADIUM

The Broadfield Stadium sits right on Crawley’s southern edge, just two minutes from junction 11 of the M23 and around a mile from Crawley train station. Opened in 1997 after the club’s previous home at Town Mead was sold to developers, it’s a compact, modern ground with a capacity of just over 6,000 – making it one of the smaller venues in the EFL.

The West Stand is the dominant structure, raised above pitch level with a distinctive elevated first row. The East Stand (2012) and West Stand are all-seated, while the North and South Stands are covered terraces. Away fans occupy the North Terrace and, for bigger followings, a section of the East Stand, giving you a covered, authentic standing experience right behind the goal.

Crawley Town were founded in 1896 and spent the majority of their existence in non-league football. Their rise has been genuinely remarkable: Conference champions in 2011 under Steve Evans, back-to-back promotions into League One, and a historic 2024 Wembley play-off final victory over Crewe Alexandra. The Reds beat MK Dons 8–1 on aggregate in the semis, an EFL play-off record.

The club’s proudest footballing moment came in the 2010-11 FA Cup, when they became only the sixth non-league club since the war to reach the Fifth Round. They came agonisingly close to a replay against Manchester United at Old Trafford, with Richard Brodie heading against the bar in stoppage time with the score at 1-0. The record attendance at the Broadfield Stadium is 5,572, set during a 2023 clash with Wrexham in League Two.

The Reds’ main rivalry is with AFC Wimbledon, a fixture that has real bite in League Two. After one season in League One following their 2024 play-off triumph, Crawley are back in the fourth tier and determined to make their mark again. New ownership arrived in August 2025, with chairman Raphael Khalili expressing ambitions for a larger, championship-ready stadium in the years ahead.

🚗 GETTING TO THE BROADFIELD STADIUM

Broadfield Stadium is genuinely one of the easier away grounds to reach. It sits right off the A23, just two minutes from junction 11 of the M23, and is under a mile from Crawley train station. The location, at the foot of Brighton Road, is well signposted, with a distinctive large football sculpture on the roundabout outside.

By car, it’s quick and simple: the M25/M23 from London and the south-east, or the A23/A24 from the coast. There is no dedicated away car park at the stadium, but free parking is available nearby, and street parking is usually available. Driving down from the Midlands or north means a longer haul but no real complexity once you hit the M23.

By rail, it’s excellent – Crawley is on the Brighton Main Line with fast, frequent services from London and direct links from Gatwick Airport. The Fastway 10 bus from Crawley station drops you outside the ground in under 10 minutes. If you’re coming from the south coast, this is one of the easier away trips of the season.

Use the underpass to cross the A23 to reach the ground.

🚗 BY CAR – Quick Off the M23, But No Stadium Parking for Away Fans

Broadfield Stadium sits virtually on the A23 dual carriageway, making it one of the most straightforward drives of the League Two season. Junction 11 of the M23 is around two minutes away. There is no dedicated away fan car park at the stadium – permit and season ticket holders only – but free parking is readily available nearby.

If You’re Driving:

  • From London/North (M25/M23): Take the M25 to junction 7, then the M23 south. Exit at junction 11 (A264 Horsham). At the roundabout, turn right onto the A23 towards Crawley. The ground is on the left just before the next roundabout – look for the large football on the traffic island.
  • From Brighton/South (A23): Head north on the A23. As you approach Crawley, the stadium is on your right on Brighton Road before the M23 junction roundabout.
  • From Horsham/West (A264): Take the A264 east into Crawley and pick up the A23 south. Follow signs for Broadfield/the Stadium.

Parking Options:

  • William Reed Car Park, Broadfield Park (RH11 9RT) – FREE: The best option for away fans. As you approach the stadium off the A23, look out for Broadfield Park on your left. Free parking here. Follow the path at the rear of the car park to reach the South end of the stadium – about a 2–3 minute walk. Note: this car park closes one hour after full time.
  • Brighton Road street parking (RH10 6TD) – FREE: Another free option, a few minutes’ walk from the ground. Signposted as you approach on Brighton Road.
  • Tilgate Forest Business Park (RH11 9BP) – FREE: Slightly further away, but spacious and free. Short walk to the ground.
  • Broadfield Business Park (RH11 9RT) – FREE: Another overflow option right next to the stadium. Easy in and out.

💡 Top Tip: Arrive early to secure one of the free spaces near the stadium – they fill up. Post-match exit is generally quick, given the road access from the A23. The William Reed car park is the most popular choice for away fans as it’s the closest and free.

🍺 PUBS & DRINKS NEAR THE BROADFIELD STADIUM

⚠️ IMPORTANT ADVICE: The area immediately around Broadfield Stadium is light on pubs – there are a handful nearby but Crawley town centre (about 1.5 miles away) is the better bet for a decent pre-match drink. The club has also opened a dedicated Away Fan Zone next to the away turnstiles serving alcohol before kick-off and at half-time, which is a welcome addition. Wear colours with confidence – Crawley is generally a relaxed, friendly away day.

🍺 Near the Ground

🍺 The Imperial (Broadfield Barton, RH11 9BA)

About 5 minutes’ walk from the stadium, right in the centre of the Broadfield neighbourhood. Away fans are welcome, and colours can be worn. A proper local with a decent atmosphere – a good shout if you want something close to the ground without heading into town.

🍺 New Moon (Brighton Road, RH10 6SZ)

Just under 5 minutes’ walk along Brighton Road from the stadium. One of the most recommended options is near the ground. Straightforward pub with a friendly atmosphere, away fans regularly use it without problems. Often busy on matchdays, so arrive early.

🍺 The Downsman (Wakehurst Drive, RH10 6DH)

A Hungry Horse pub is a short walk from the ground. Known locally for a surprisingly decent curry and reliable pub food alongside a solid drinks selection. Away fans have used this without issues. Slightly off the beaten track but perfectly accessible. Good if you want food before the match.

⚾ Away Fan Zone – Broadfield Stadium (Next to the away turnstiles)

Crawley’s dedicated pre-match zone for travelling fans is located right at the north end of the ground next to your turnstiles. Music, food, and both alcoholic and soft drinks are available before kick-off and at half-time. A great recent addition that makes the matchday considerably more enjoyable.

🍺 Crawley Town Centre (Recommended for Pre-Match)

Crawley town centre is about 1.5 miles from the stadium and is the most popular choice for away fans wanting a decent selection before kick-off. Easily reachable by bus, taxi or a 25-minute walk from the station.

🍺 Wetherspoons (The Hogshead) – Crawley Town Centre

The classic away fan fallback works well here. Town centre location, cheap drinks, food served all day, and away fans reporting seeing very few home supporters make it relaxed and hassle-free. A consistent recommendation from travelling fans across the leagues.

🍺 The Railway (2-4 Brighton Road, RH10 6AA)

Handy for those arriving by train – right on Brighton Road, very close to the station. Good for a quick pint before making your way to the ground. Away fans regularly use this without issue, and it’s a natural first stop if walking down to the stadium.

🍻 Redz Bar – Broadfield Stadium (Behind the South Terrace)

Crawley’s official supporters’ bar, situated behind the South Stand. Open to families and generally welcoming of away supporters who cover their colours. Worth a visit for a look at the club’s social scene if you arrive early. There’s also a mobile pizza truck and catering outside Redz before kick-off.

🍔 FOOD NEAR THE BROADFIELD STADIUM

🍔 At the Ground

Stadium Concourse & Away Fan Zone

Six snack bars operate inside Broadfield Stadium, offering hot and cold food and drinks. The Away Fan Zone next to the turnstiles also serves food before kick-off and at half-time. Queues can build at busy times, so get there early. There’s also a pizza truck outside Redz Bar before the match.

Tesco Express (Downland Drive, RH11 8SW – 5 minutes’ walk)

The nearest shop to the stadium for grabbing snacks, drinks and supplies. Also home to the closest cash machine if you need cash before the match. Simple but useful.

County Mall Shopping Centre

Crawley’s main shopping centre has a comprehensive food court covering all the major chains – McDonald’s, KFC, Subway, Nando’s, and more – all within a few minutes of the town centre. Good if you’re travelling with family and want something quick and familiar pre-match.

High Street & Town Centre Restaurants

Crawley’s town centre has a good range of independent cafés, pizza restaurants, and international cuisine. The pub food at The Downsman near the ground is also consistently well rated. For a proper sit-down meal, the town centre is the place to head – there’s plenty of choice for all budgets.

⚽ MATCHDAY EXPERIENCE

🍺 Away Fan Zone: The dedicated zone next to the away turnstiles serves alcohol and food before kick-off and at half-time – a really welcome facility at this level. Use it.

🏙️ Compact & Close: Broadfield Stadium’s modest capacity and covered North Terrace means the atmosphere concentrates well. You’ll be right behind the goal and close to the action – proper football intimacy.

📰 No Programme: Crawley no longer produce a matchday programme, so there’s nothing to collect at this one – save your coins for the bar instead.

🚧 Dress for the Weather: The North Terrace is covered, so you’re sheltered from rain. The East Stand (used for bigger allocations) is also fully covered and all-seated – either way, you’re protected.

⏰ Turnstiles: Open around 60 minutes before kick-off. The ground fills quickly given the modest capacity – arrive with time to spare, especially for popular fixtures.

♿ Disabled Access: Three accessible parking spaces available for away fans (blue badge required, in car). Email tickets@crawleytownfc.com to book. Drop-off bay also available.

🛣️ Post-Match: The A23 access is brilliant – you can be on the M23 within minutes of the final whistle. If walking back to the station, allow 25 minutes along Brighton Road or catch the Fastway 10 back to town.

💭 FINAL THOUGHTS

Broadfield Stadium is a compact, friendly and well-located away ground. The North Terrace is covered and close to the pitch, giving you proper behind-the-goal football in an intimate setting. The Away Fan Zone makes the pre-match experience noticeably more enjoyable, and Red Devils fans are generally a welcoming bunch. It’s a solid League Two away day.

Don’t overlook what Crawley and the surrounding area have to offer. Tilgate Park is a genuinely excellent free day out, Nymans and Wakehurst are world-class gardens on the doorstep, and Brighton is a 35-minute train ride away for a stunning Sunday. The Gatwick Airport hotel cluster means accommodation is better here than at most League Two grounds.

Get the train – it’s as easy as it gets. Grab a drink in town or at the station, catch the Fastway 10 down Brighton Road, have a pint in the Away Fan Zone and enjoy a ground that punches above its weight for a club that has had some remarkable moments in its history. Manchester United at Old Trafford, anyone?
