⚽ ACCU STADIUM AWAY DAY GUIDE ⚽
Huddersfield Town – Your Complete Away Fan’s Guide
🏟️ ABOUT THE ACCU STADIUM
The Accu Stadium is Huddersfield Town’s modern home since 1994, replacing the historic Leeds Road ground. Located on Stadium Way in the Canalside area of Huddersfield, this 24,554-capacity venue represents modern stadium design with excellent facilities and sightlines throughout.
The stadium features four distinctive stands – the Fantastic Media South Stand (main stand), the Chadwick Lawrence Stand (away section), the Revell Ward Terriers Stand (North), and the Britannia Rescue Stand (East). Built on the site of the former Huddersfield goods yard, the stadium is shared with the Huddersfield Giants rugby league club, creating a genuine community sporting hub atmosphere.
The Accu Stadium offers comfortable seating, well-equipped concourses, and unrestricted views from every seat. Whilst it lacks the character of Leeds Road, the modern amenities make it an excellent away-day venue. The stadium’s location next to the canal and retail park provides convenient pre-match options.
Huddersfield Town – The Terriers – were founded in 1908 and boast one of English football’s most remarkable histories. The club won three consecutive First Division titles (1923-24, 1924-25, 1925-26) under legendary manager Herbert Chapman, making them one of only three clubs to achieve this feat. Town also won the FA Cup in 1922 and has been First Division runners-up on three occasions.
The famous blue-and-white striped shirts are iconic in English football. Leeds Road, their home from 1908 to 1994, was a proper traditional ground that witnessed the club’s greatest glories. The rivalry with Leeds United creates one of Yorkshire’s fiercest derbies, whilst matches against Bradford City and Barnsley also generate local passion. Huddersfield Town represent proud West Yorkshire industrial heritage and traditional football values.
The club’s motto “Floreat Salopia” (May Salop Flourish) reflects the town’s civic pride. Recent years have seen Premier League football and promotion battles, maintaining Huddersfield’s place in English football’s rich tapestry.
