🔴 ABOUT ANFIELD
Anfield is one of world football’s most iconic and atmospheric venues, home to Liverpool FC since 1892. Located in the Anfield district of North Liverpool, the stadium has witnessed countless legendary moments across its 130+ year history.
The ground has been systematically redeveloped over recent decades, most notably with the magnificent Main Stand (opened 2016) and the recently expanded Anfield Road End, bringing the capacity to an impressive 61,015, making it the fourth-largest stadium in England.
This is where football history has been made time and again – from the legendary Boot Room era under Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, and Joe Fagan, through the glory days of the 1970s and 80s, the miraculous Istanbul comeback in 2005, and the end of the 30-year wait for a league title in 2020.
Liverpool FC – The Reds – are one of England’s most successful clubs with 19 league championships, 8 FA Cups, 10 League Cups, and an unmatched 6 European Cups/Champions Leagues. The club’s history is intertwined with the city itself – Scouse pride, working-class heritage, and an unshakeable belief in the collective power of the supporters have made Liverpool unique in world football.
The famous red shirts have been worn since 1964 when Bill Shankly switched from red shirts and white shorts to an all-red kit to make the team look more intimidating. The Liver Bird crest represents the city’s maritime heritage, whilst the eternal flames on the crest commemorate the 97 victims of the Hillsborough disaster.
The famous “This Is Anfield” sign in the tunnel, the Shankly Gates, and the Hillsborough Memorial all contribute to Anfield’s deeply emotional atmosphere. The Kop end is one of football’s most famous stands – when it’s in full voice singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, there are few more spine-tingling moments in sport.
